Eat Healthy and Live Happy!
English Day - 07 December 2020
Bethenny Frankel once said "Your diet is a bank account. Good food choices are good investments". It is true that most people like to eat junk food. But do you know that the less junk food a person consumes, the longer they are likely to live? Then, why do people still eating junk food? According to the study, 38% of men eat fast food on any given day, compared with 35.4% of women. Young men are particularly big users, with 46.5% of men 20 to 39 eating fast food, compared to 43.3% of women the same age.
Here’s the thing. First of all junk foods are loaded with sugar, salt, saturated and trans fat while being low in fruit, vegetables, fibre and wholegrains. For example, chicken wings, steak, and burgers, they contained lots of fat. According to the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, women tend to need between 1,600 to 2,400 kcal a day, and men from 2,000 to 3,000 kcal a day. Sure we need calories, without calories, cells in the body will die, and vital organs such as the heart and lungs will not be able to carry out their basic functions. But, when you consume more calories than your body uses, they are stored in the form of fat. That's why it's important to assess your lifestyle to arrive at the right calorie intake. Fast food is packed with fat This puts you at risk of health conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, some cancers and fatty liver disease. so if junk food cause us so many disadvantages, why don’t we change our lifestyles?
Researches have founded the reasons why people love junk food, it’s because of the food is inexpensive, convenient, and tastes good. Who doesn’t love that? But the most frequent one is not having enough time. Working schedules, school assignments, and extra curricular activities mean that time is short and fewer people are prepared to make delicious healthy meals so they have no choice but to order fast food.
Overall, it is possible to live a busy lifestyle and prepare healthy meals. Its simple to eat healthy though, just apply five healthy habits in your foods. In a 2018 study, an international group of researchers led by scientists at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that adopting five healthy habits could extend life expectancy by 14 years for women and by 12 years for men.
