I Love Reading Books at the Library, Don’t You?
At TKK PENABUR Gading Serpong, the library is more than just a room full of books. It is a magical place where curiosity grows and imagination comes alive. Our students are always excited to explore the library, mainly because they get to bring a piece of that magic home every week.
Once a week, each student can borrow a book from the school library. The books are available in two languages: Bahasa Indonesia and English. This allows children to explore stories in the most comfortable language or even challenge themselves with something new. They can take the book home, enjoy it with their family, and develop meaningful reading habits. A simple routine with a big impact, don’t you agree?
But the fun doesn’t stop there. After reading, the students fill out a reading journal. In this journal, they can share what the story is about, express their opinions, or draw their favorite scenes. This activity helps students build their vocabulary, improve comprehension, and express their thoughts in creative ways. It is a fun and effective way to strengthen their literacy skills.
What makes it even more special is the freedom to choose. Some students gravitate toward Indonesian books while others are curious about English ones. No matter the language, they are expanding their knowledge and nurturing a love for reading, one page at a time.
Through this weekly reading routine, our students are not just learning how to read. They are learning to enjoy reading. That is a habit that will last a lifetime. Isn’t that the kind of habit we want our children to have?
So what makes our library program special? It is not just about borrowing books. It is about creating joyful learning moments, encouraging imagination, and building confident readers who are ready to explore the world. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?
Teaching Digital Literacy to Young Children
Children today grow up surrounded by technology. Phones, tablets, and screens are a normal part of their lives. That is why it is important to teach them how to use technology in a smart and safe way, even from a young age.
At TKK PENABUR Gading Serpong, we believe that digital literacy is more than just letting children use gadgets. It is about helping them understand how to use digital tools with care and purpose. We want to support children in becoming confident and responsible when using technology, both at school and at home.
To make learning more exciting, our students at TKK GS enjoy using the Active Floor, an interactive digital floor that lets them move, learn, and play at the same time. This special feature helps children develop both digital skills and physical coordination in a fun way! We also use PENABUR Digital Learning apps to support learning at home and in the classroom. These apps offer safe, age-appropriate educational content that helps children explore and grow their digital abilities step by step.
Parents play a big role too. One simple way to build digital habits is by using gadgets with your child. For example, you can watch an educational video or read a digital storybook side by side. Talking about what they see or learn makes the experience more meaningful. It is more fun when you do it together, isn’t it?
It is also helpful to set clear screen time limits. Children need time to move, play, and rest, not just sit with a screen all day. Having a routine helps them understand that gadgets are just one part of their daily life. Choosing safe and age-appropriate content is also important. Apps, videos, or games should be suitable for young children and help them learn something new.
Finally, be a good example. Children often copy what they see. If they watch you using technology for reading, learning, or working, they are more likely to follow your lead. That kind of influence is powerful!
At school, we introduce digital tools in simple and guided ways that match the age of our students. With strong teamwork between school and home, we believe our children can grow into wise digital users. Together, let’s build healthy digital habits for our little ones!
A Meaningful Passover Celebration at TKK PENABUR Gading Serpong
What a meaningful day we had at TKK PENABUR Gading Serpong, wasn’t it? On April 23, 2025, the school held a special Passover celebration that warmed every heart in the room. Parents, teachers, and students from Toddler to K2 gathered together to worship, sing, and reflect on the true meaning of Passover, a time of love, gratitude, sacrifice, and new beginnings.
The event began with a heartfelt Passover service. The children, with their pure voices and joyful spirits, filled the room with uplifting songs and prayers. Everyone could feel the love and unity in the air. And guess what? The performances were even more special! One of the highlights of the day was a powerful drama played by the children themselves, especially from K2, telling the story of the Last Supper until Jesus’ crucifixion.
But the celebration wasn’t only about watching and listening, it was also about giving. Each child was invited to bring a Passover offering, placed inside a sealed envelope. These offerings weren’t just symbolic, they were filled with kindness and purpose. The donations collected will support the distribution of Bibles through Lembaga Alkitab Indonesia (LAI), health programs in Flores, and a blood donation drive. Beautiful mission, right?
Through this meaningful activity, the children learned that even the smallest hands can do big things. By participating in the offering, they discovered the joy of sharing and the power of caring for others. That’s something we all want our children to grow up with, isn’t it?
The 2025 Passover event at TKK PENABUR Gading Serpong wasn’t just another school program. It was a touching reminder of God’s love and a beautiful opportunity to nurture compassion in young hearts. Let’s continue to walk this journey together, building character, growing faith, and inspiring our children to be a light in the world.
Earth Day at TKK PENABUR Gading Serpong
At TKK PENABUR Gading Serpong, Earth Day isn’t just celebrated once a year. It’s a value that we teach and live out every day! Even though there’s no specific Earth Day event this year, our little ones are always reminded to take care of the planet in simple but meaningful ways.
What kind of things do we do? Simple daily habits, like turning off the tap after washing hands, using water wisely, throwing trash into the bin, and taking care of plants. Sounds small? Yes, but these actions make a big difference, don’t they?
Through their daily routines, the children are learning that loving the Earth means taking responsibility. We often hear their sweet voices reminding each other, “Turn off the water!”
And there’s more! During the P5 Festival event, the children explored even more Earth-friendly ideas. For example, our PG students worked together with their parents to create posters about loving the environment. Such a fun bonding moment, right? Not only that, the children also learned that they can create something new from old materials. Yes, things we usually throw away can become useful and beautiful projects! From bottle crafts to recycled art, their creativity truly shines. And guess what? They were so proud to show what they had made!
At TKK PENABUR Gading Serpong, we believe that it’s never too early to teach children how to love the Earth. Through daily reminders, hands-on projects, and teamwork with parents, the message becomes part of their everyday life. So let’s keep encouraging these small heroes to care for the world.
