A little love never hurts
Samantha and Christopher grew up together in a small orphanage. They liked to help each other and shared things and food too. As they grew older, they had to leave the orphanage and find a job to support their lives. Christopher got a job in big company whether Samantha worked for a florist.
One day, while Samantha was decorating flowers, the doorbell ringing. A beautiful woman and a gentleman got into the shop. “How can I help you……?” Samantha greeted them and was surprised to know that the gentleman was Christopher.
“Hold up.. Are you.. Christopher?” said Samantha. Christopher was just as surprised as Samantha. It feels like a dream for the two of them to see each other again. They missed each other, which made them forget their intention at the shop. The excitement led Samantha to invite Christopher to the coffee shop beside her shop to have a small talk.
The talks went smoothly like they never separated. Until she noticed that something was off on Christopher. He didn't look fresh at all. Then he told Samantha that he felt under the weather that day. He explained how for the past months he felt weak and often felt lethargic during his work. Then he went to the doctor as his body bruised easily even at a slight nudge. The doctor then urgently referred him to the hospital for a blood test and informed him that he was suffering from leukemia and urgently needed a bone marrow transplant.
After he told everything to me, I was too stunned and couldn't move for like 5 minutes. Suddenly a huge sadness overcame me and my mind went blank, so I just stared bluntly at Christopher. "The doctor told me that I have to find a bone marrow donor for my transplant as soon as possible,” said Christopher again.
It was hard but Christopher needed a transplant urgently so it was a race against time. We worked endlessly and contacted our relatives to help them spread the word. The two of us shut down staring at blank spaces after a week in Christopher’s house because no one was willing to help. Suddenly there was a call from Christopher’s phone. He thought that it was just a prank call but it turned out that the call was from his hospital. The hospital suddenly said that they already found someone for the bone marrow transplant. After hearing that, it feels like a rainbow after a storm.
Long story short, the surgery ended successfully. Christopher woke and asked the donor's name to say thank you, but no one answered him. Suddenly, his best friend, Samantha, came to him with a wheelchair and explained it all to him. Christopher's heart sank and couldn't accept the painful reality that his best
friend was the donor at first but from time to time he accepted it and was grateful to have a friend like that. Moral: “A true friend in need is a friend indeed”.
