AI meets Education: PENABUR’s view on the Future of Digital Creativity
By : Given Jonathan
What is AI?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a set of technologies that enable computers to perform a variety of advanced functions, including the ability to see, understand and translate spoken and written language,    analyze data, make recommendations, and more.
To put it simply, AI is a technology that enables machines to think, learn, and make decisions like humans. AI has transformed our daily lives and will continue to do so. However, concerns have been raised about how the harm AI can do outweighs the benefits it provides.
AI: Beneficial or Harmful?
Is AI truly beneficial or harmful? This might seem like a controversial question. However, this question will invite thoughtful consideration, and will help bring clarity!
A Student’s Perspective on AI
Before we get into how AI impacts Web Content and Digital Creativity, let’s look at this from a student’s perspective. Young learners often find the urge to use generative AI to help them do schoolwork. Research shows that over half of children who are using generative AI tools have used them to complete schoolwork. Surely, AI benefits students, right? Well, it surely does. However, its drawbacks aren’t something to be ignored.
As AI use becomes normalized in the student community, over-reliance on it has developed. An over-reliance on AI can cause several problems for the students themselves. While AI often provides quick and reliable answers, it hinders a student’s ability to develop critical thinking and creative skills. Furthermore, it could lead to the student’s inability to understand the materials given. While students struggle with AI's impact on learning, content creators face similar challenges and opportunities in their fields.
The Impact of AI on the Future of Web Content
How could AI possibly impact the future of Web Content? Will AI replace creators? We have been living in a world where content-creators rely on their own creativity to create. With the sudden rise of AI in the world of web content, dozens of creators have started using AI to produce their content, one of which is the world-known Producer “Alan Walker.”
In his video titled “Can AI Make Me Sing? (Recreating 'Unsure' On The Zephyrus G14)”, he tried AI to try and make him sing and produce music. While he had undeniably good results, Alan noted: “It’s not a replacement for what truly matters. The creative process, working with people, I don’t think AI will ever replace that,...., I don’t think AI will replace us anytime soon.”
While Alan Walker’s experiment showcases AI’s potential in music, it also highlights a critical truth shared by many creators. The world of content-creators has concluded that AI, when used properly and for the right reasons, could benefit them. However, when AI is solely used to produce content and not help produce them, it can be a problem.
Writer’s Conclusion
IIn this article, we explored the rise of AI and its impact on Young Learners as well as the Future of Web Content. AI is not just a technology, it’s an innovative tool that will continue to grow. If you’re a Student or a Content-Creator, exploring and experimenting with AI can be a valuable learning experience! As long as you’re doing it for the right reasons, you’ll surely benefit from it.
A famous quote from the Taiwanese businessman and computer scientist Kai-Fu-Lee amazingly describes this article:“AI will not replace jobs, but it will change the nature of work.”
Closing reflection
As AI continues to influence how we create and learn , the question remains:
Will AI empower us to innovate? Or will it limit our ability to think independently?
