Productivity: A Way to “Sprint” to Your Goals
English Day - 07 April 2022
“I’ve set a resolution for this year, goals and plans for me to achieve for a while. But time seems to be more limited than I needed. Hell with resolutions, I can’t even complete my daily tasks!”
Sounds familiar? If you have experienced that moment in your life, or maybe dealing with it right now, then maybe this article could help you out. In this article, we will discuss what productivity is, why productivity is important and relevant to our problem above, and how to be more implement it in our daily lives.
Many people have the wrong assumptions about productivity. They thought it’s a measure of the efficiency of a person completing so many tasks a day. It’s partly right, as what productivity means is that it is a measure of the efficiency of a person completing important tasks daily.
If you look around, there are thousands of things we could care about surrounding our lives, millions of problems to solve. But face it, we can’t deal with all of that considering how limited our time is.
Setting priorities is the first key to productivity. All you have to do is set apart things you consider important and things you could ignore which won’t affect you significantly.
Now you know what to work on. Then, build the habit. Do it constantly until you find that time is just time, it’s how we manage things that make the difference. But it’s not that simple, when you know what your priorities are, make sure that you know how to finish it effectively.
The problems are not the only thing you have to focus on, but yourself as well. Your mental and physical health should also be put into consideration, as it could affect your overall productivity.
Set a nice working environment if it makes you comfortable, rest your eyes and mind, move your body after a long period of working in front of a desk, and many more. Also, procrastination is something people oftentimes perceive as slacking off, yet it’s essential for a productive lifestyle.
It’s not always bad if you could be responsible for it, as procrastination could prevent you from burning out or being too stressed out from work. After going through one, it could even make you more alive and being more productive.
One last thing, If you have ever thought about this, let me tell you something. Multitasking is not productive. Instead, it is the enemy of productivity, because humans’ brain is not designed to focus on multiple things at once. Doing more than one thing simultaneously would reduce the effectiveness and the performance of our works.
Sometimes, our ego beats our rationality. Thinking that we could accomplish everything and handle all things on our own is not only useless, but it’s also stupid.
If you’re used to having this kind of mindset, it would have consumed most of your time long before you realized you have stepped off with the wrong step in the first place. Life’s too short to waste, work towards your goals, and do it effectively so you’ll realize there’s more to life than just doing tasks.
