After the events of Cloud City, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Lando Calrissian went back to the rebel fleet without their friend, Han Solo who got caught in the Cloud City. After meeting on the rendezvous point, they needed to help the rebel fleet from the blockade first. Finished with that, they started to make a plan to rescue their friend. Luke going to Trask to find an old abandoned Jedi Temple to get a new lightsaber. There he met with the Grand Inquisitor. They had a hard fight, but Luke came victorious in the end.
After all the preparations, they went to Tatooine to rescue Han Solo. There they met with Jabba the Hut's crew, who hunted them down. So, they ran away and planning to return soon. After that, they got more crew and more informations to verify that Han Solo was really there, so all of them came back to rescue him, with the right planning, they managed to do it
