At the same time as the distribution of student’s mid-term reports, SMAK 1 PENABUR Jakarta held a Science Fair, in which students’ experiments and creativity were exhibited. In the occasion on Saturday, 13 March 2010, students of year 10 and 11 showcased all products and reports of their creation and experiments that they had been working on since the first semester.

Not only shown to other students and parents, the products also could attract people’s attention and some were even sold out. Four juries from LIPI were invited to assess all the experiments to get the best one.

 
The principal, Mr. Satijan, commenced the event  in a brief opening ceremony in which Batak traditional dance was performed. In the occasion, Mr. Satijan was wearing ‘ulos’, the traditional clothing of the people from North Sumatera.  This was in tune with the theme of SMAK 1 Culture Corner, which is showing the culture of people of Sumatera.

 
As God’s creation, we should be thankful for having been given the ability to create. May the Mighty God help us use the ability to create things which are useful for human beings and other living things, not to destroy lives.
